It is Tuesday, 3 November, and after school Sam goes shopping with Papa. Dutch families often do boodschappen (the groceries) a few times a week at a small neighbourhood supermarket, and many Dutch children love the free little cube of cheese at the cheese counter. In this sixth Dutch Together kids' story you learn words for bread, cheese, milk and paying at the till. Read the story slowly, out loud if you can. Het verhaal: Sam en papa in de supermarkt#
Het is dinsdag. School is uit. Papa zegt: "Sam, we gaan boodschappen doen." Sam is blij. Hij mag de winkelwagen duwen.
In de supermarkt is het licht en warm. Eerst gaan ze naar het brood. Sam pakt een groot bruin brood. "Dit brood, papa?" vraagt Sam. "Ja, goed zo!" zegt papa.

Dan gaan ze naar de kaas. Daar staat een mevrouw. Ze heeft een wit schort. "Wil je proeven?" vraagt de mevrouw. Ze geeft Sam een blokje kaas. Sam proeft. "Mmm, lekker!" zegt Sam. Papa koopt een stuk kaas.

Papa kijkt op zijn lijstje. "We hebben nog melk nodig." Sam haalt een pak melk. Het pak is koud.
Nu gaan ze naar de kassa. Sam legt de melk op de band. Dan het brood en de kaas. Papa betaalt met zijn pasje. "Dank u wel!" zegt Sam. De mevrouw lacht. "Tot ziens!"
