Meta Sturgeon County Data Centre

AI dedicated

Operated by Meta · AB, CA2 srcupdated 5d ago

Meta broke ground in July 2026 on its first Canadian data centre, a 1 GW AI-optimised site in Sturgeon County, Alberta, with stated investment of more than CA$13bn plus about CA$60m in local road and water infrastructure. Cooling is a closed-loop liquid system with dry coolers and no operational water use; Meta says it is fully funding new generation and grid infrastructure via Greenlight LP, AltaLink and Capital Power.
