On 2 July 2026 MARA subsidiary Volt Texas, LLC acquired project company MAT 1177 LLC from HIF USA LLC, announced 9 July 2026, giving MARA a powered land site of more than 1,200 acres in Matagorda County, Texas, about 90 miles southwest of Houston. A letter agreement with an electric utility covers up to 2,000 MW, with up to 1 GW of grid capacity expected by October 2027 and up to 2 GW by April 2028. MARA intends to develop the site with Starwood Digital Ventures for high-performance computing as well as flexible compute including bitcoin mining; purchase price is up to $600 million in milestone payments. Coordinates are county-level (Bay City, the county seat); the exact parcel is not disclosed.
