Google said on 15 June 2026 it will invest $1.5bn across 2026 and 2027 to expand its Jackson County, Alabama data center campus, which has operated since 2019 on the repurposed Widows Creek coal plant site. The announcement includes a $2m Energy Impact Fund with TVA and CAANEAL.
