Google broke ground on 2 June 2026 on its first self-developed, owned and operated data center in Sweden, at Horndal in Avesta municipality on land acquired in 2017. Designed to be ready for off-site heat recovery; Google announced a EUR 5m local community fund and 100 direct full-time jobs. No IT capacity or completion date was disclosed.
