Apple's first large owned datacenter campus, opened in 2010 on 183 acres in Maiden, North Carolina, and now over 1 million sq ft across multiple buildings serving iCloud and Apple services. Grid power comes from Duke Energy, supplemented on site by three 20MW solar farms and a 10MW biogas fuel cell installation generating a reported 244 million kWh of renewable energy per year. Apple has invested roughly $3bn in the campus and committed a further $448m in April 2021. No IT load figure is published.
